2020 - Can't stop us series

The 2020 Coronavirus pandemic affected us all. It also marked the first year since 1972 that the Port Summer Show didn't produce a full-length musical. Due to the ongoing concerns with COVID-19 and to ensure the health and safety of all Port Summer Show participants, we decided to go virtual for the summer of 2020.

Pivoting as quickly as possible, the board worked diligently with our incredible Creative Team to provide a theater and stagecraft series that captures the spirit of what we’ve been doing for the last 48 years.  We transformed the summer into a program of virtual workshops. mentored projects, and a senior showcase.

Workshops took place over the Zoom platform and fifty kids sang, danced, acted and learned with each other via the internet. The summer concluded with our senior showcase filmed at the beautiful Jeanne Rimsky Theater, and four self-produced videos that were part of The Totally Awesome 80s Music Video Project.

While we hope to be back to "show business as usual" next year, we will never forget 2020...the year of uncertainty, flexibility, adaptation, and in-the-moment decision making!
